Enrollment

All full-time enrollment and transfer requests are done completely by our MPS Student Placement Services department, MPS Online staff cannot see any in-progress requests nor grant acceptance. During the enrollment process, please direct all questions to MPS Student Placement Services @ 612-668-1840 you can choose your language preference here as well, via email at sps.department@mpls.k12.mn.us or in-person Monday-Friday 8AM-430PM @ The Davis Center 1250 W. Broadway Minneapolis, MN.

***Please note.  If you are an external transfer it may take up to a week for Student pLacement to get back to you, because they are waiting on student records to be transferred from the students most current school.

  •                    ENROLLING FULL-TIME FOR 2025-2026

    • Students who attended MPS Online full-time in the 2024-2025 school year and completed the year are AUTOMATICALLY enrolled in the 2025-2026 school year. 

      • STEP 1: please complete the forms at this link: https://exploremps.org/requestSchool - be sure to select MPS Online K-5 or 6-12 in step 7!

      • STEP 2: If request is approved, Student Placement Services will alert the student/family and MPS Online. Then, someone from MPS Online staff will reach out within 2 school days via phone to schedule an orientation and tech pick-up appointment.
         

  • INTERNAL TRANSFERS

    • If the school year has already started and you are a CURRENT MPS student attending an in-person high school and are requesting to transfer to MPS Online for the remainder of a school year… 

      • STEP 1: please complete the forms at this link: https://exploremps.org/requestSchool - be sure to select MPS Online 6-12 in step 7!

      • STEP 2: Once initial forms are completed, student/family will receive a follow-up email from Student Placement Services with a transfer request form.

      • STEP 3: If request is approved, Student Placement Services will alert the student/family and MPS Online. Then, someone from MPS Online staff will reach out within 2 school days via phone to schedule an orientation and tech pick-up appointment.
         

  • EXTERNAL TRANSFERS

    • If the school year has already started and you are NOT a current MPS student and are either attending a school OUTSIDE of Minneapolis Public Schools OR are not currently enrolled in any school… 

STEP 2: If request is approved, Student Placement Services will alert the student/family and MPS Online. Then, someone from MPS Online staff will reach out within 2 school days via phone to schedule an orientation and tech pick-up appointment.

                        ENROLLING PART-TIME FOR 2024-2025

             Q4 PART-TIME ENROLLMENT WINDOW CLOSED ON                                           THURSDAY, MARCH 27th @ 3:30PM

NEXT STEPS: After completing the enrollment form, both student and parent/guardian will be sent a confirmation email on the first day of Q4, Monday, April 7th, with a virtual orientation link if students receives a seat; if student is placed on a waitlist or denied, they will receive a personal email from MPS Online counselor on or before Monday, April 7th.
